I was very excited to start this 4th book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. I know that not everyone loves YA literature and vampires. However, I do. I also know that not everyone has loved the way that Ms. Meyer has told her story. Again, I've had a good time with it. This final book in Bella and Edward's saga was quite satisfying for me. I checked over at Amazon and noticed that this morning there have been 2075 reviews posted. About half are 4 or 5 stars and about 25% are 1 star reviews. People either love it or hate it, it seems. Regardless of the controversy, I find it astounding that over 2000 reviews have appeared in just 9 days. This series is a phenomenon certainly. Ehhh, not everyone loved how the Harry Potter books ended either. Again, for me, I enjoyed BREAKING DAWN. A happy ending occurred (and I don't think that is a spoiler) and all is well in Bella and Edward's world. Or mostly well. I will say that this is a much more adult book and the characters have grown and changed much as the Harry Potter characters did. I feel it is definitely an older teen book. I look forward to seeing what the author has in mind next. Her stand-alone book, THE HOST, was also published this year. If you were a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and you like a timeless love story, pick up TWILIGHT and start this fun saga. See what all the fuss is about! From the publisher:
To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. her imminent choice to either join the dark bu seductive world of immortals or pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fate of two tribes hangs.
Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life--first discovered in TWILIGHT, then scattered and torn in NEW MOON and ECLIPSE--seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed. . . forever?

So happy to see that you liked this one. It is either a love or hate thing isn't it? I'm in between. I liked it well enough.
I have Twilight on my tbr pile and thought I would read it for Carl's next RIP challenge. It certainly does seem to be a love or hate series. I came across two scathing reviews just recently but several people (including yourself) whose opinions I trust have liked them a lot, so I'm really looking forward to reading this series in a couple of months.
