No Time For Goodbye by Linwood Barclay

Fourteen-year-old Cynthia Bigge woke one morning to discover that her entire family–mother, father, brother–had vanished. No note, no trace, no return. Ever. Now, twenty-five years later, she’ll learn the devastating truth.
     Sometimes it’s better not to know. . . .
Cynthia is happily married with a young daughter, a new family. But the story of her old family isn’t over. A strange car in the neighborhood, untraceable phone calls, ominous “gifts”–someone has returned to her hometown to finish what was started twenty-five years ago. And no one’s innocence is guaranteed, not even her own. By the time Cynthia discovers her killer’s shocking identity, it will again be too late . . . even for goodbye.

After finishing The Accident, I decided to pick up another Linwood Barclay tale, No Time For Goodbye.  Again, I raced through the story, looking for clues and trying to figure out what had happened to Cynthia's family.  Pretty early on I had a glimmer of an idea and I also figured out the final twist.  However, that being said, I didn't mind being proved correct.  I liked Cynthia and her husband, Terry.  I really appreciated the lengths that Terry went to in order to solve the mystery and set his wife's mind at rest.  Barclay may well turn out to be a favorite thriller author for me.  And, happily, I still have several books to read in his backlist.  I'm surprised that some of them haven't been filmed, at least on the small screen.  If you like Harlan Coben's standalone thrillers, I suspect you'd like Linwood Barclay.

  2. Hey!
This sounds like a good book! I usually like nonfiction the best, but if it is a good story...
Oh, and I just talked about Unbroken and Devil At My Heels on my blog. Have you ever read either of them?

  5. This book was my first written by Barclay and despite some minor glitches, I thought it was very good.
